In commemoration of Independence Day and the Great Arab Revolt centennial, Central Electricity Generating Company (CEGCO) organized two free medical days, the first taking place in the Aqaba Governorate’s Disi Municipality on Saturday 28 May, 2016, and the second in the Mafraq Governorate’s Dajaniyyeh on Sunday 5 June, 2016. The medical days were carried out as part of CEGCO’s corporate social responsibility strategy, under which the Company is committed to providing health awareness and medical services to citizens living in proximity of its stations and sites.

More than 720 people of all ages benefited from medical care and treatment during CEGCO’s two medical days, which were held in collaboration with Rehab Gas Turbine Power Station, Aqaba Thermal Power Station and the Disi-area branch of the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD). CEGCO employees and doctors, hailing from the Company’s main offices as well as its Rehab and Aqaba power stations, participated in the event alongside doctors from various specialties, including dentistry, internal medicine, dermatology, gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics and general medicine. Throughout the two days, visitors were offered laboratory testing, diabetes screening and blood pressure tests, and were dispensed medications that had been donated by a number of pharmaceutical companies according to doctors’ prescriptions.

Furthermore, in cooperation with the National Blood Bank and the Rehab Gas Turbine Power Station and Hussein Thermal Power Station clinics, CEGCO’s Department of Public Relations and Media organized two blood donation drives for its employees at its Rehab and Zarqa stations. Conducted under the supervision of a team of medical specialists from the blood bank and the two Company clinics, the blood drive resulted in the collection of 50 units of donated blood, which were registered to the Company’s reserve of blood units, available to employees and their families in cases of emergency. In addition to contributing to the Company’s blood reserves, CEGCO’s regular blood drive campaigns aim to support the blood bank’s efforts in serving patients and providing them with the highest standards of health care.

CEGCO Acting CEO, Nadeem Rizvi, praised the efforts of all of the organizers and volunteers who made the campaign a success, positively affecting a large segment of the local community. “It is a pleasure to take part in our beloved country’s celebrations commemorating Independence Day and the centennial of the Great Arab Revolt through these two medical days and blood drives, which aimed to strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and the sense of giving among citizens living in proximity of CEGCO sites,” Rizvi said. “As a pioneering national institution, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we operate, and this recent campaign stands as a testament to our ongoing efforts to foster a sound generation capable of contributing to the development of the community.”
