Amman, March 2017 – As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, Central Electricity Generating Company (CEGCO) has donated 70 reverse osmosis (RO) water filtration systems to public schools located in the vicinity of its areas of operation.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the water filters were installed in 70 public schools across the Zarqa and Mafraq Governorates, benefiting approximately 27,000 students in addition to the administrations and faculties of the affected schools. Under this project, which was conducted following a test of the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) present in the water at schools in the Rehab and Hashimiyeh areas, CEGCO aims to provide safe and clean drinking water to students and teachers alike.
“Continuing the CSR program launched in 2016, CEGCO decided to support schools in remote underprivileged areas by securing pure drinking water for their students and staffs, thereby contributing to their health while also limiting costs related to buying bottled water or bringing it in from outside the schools,” said CEGCO CEO, Nadeem Rizvi. “This step was taken under our efforts to fulfill our responsibility toward the local communities in which we operate.”
